Scripture On Business
These verses, from both the old
and new testament are some of
God's guidance about how we
are to approach work.
It does not include the many verses admonishing us to be honest and fair which are the most basic of principles needed to be successful in business over the long term.
Reading the word of God will change you. It is not just information for head knowledge. It will change the way you think. It will change your priorities, your outlook, your expectations. It will empower you to overcome sin, and practice righteousness.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light for my path. PS 119:105
2 Chron 15:7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
Jer 29:11 ...I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for your welfare and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jer 31:16 Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded.
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:23 The steps of a man are ordered (established) by the Lord, and He delights in his way.
Psalm 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Proverbs 28:19 Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.
Eccl 2:24 - 26 A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.
Eccl 3:22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
