How Willing to Change Are You?

(Hint: Everyone thinks they are above average)

I was thinking about some colleagues whose business is in trouble and I realized that even all of Solomon's wisdom won't help people who are not truly interested in change. It reminded me of a great quote:

"People don't mind change, they mind being changed." - Unknown

Change means different things to different people. Everyone will tell you they change. No one thinks they are stagnant. So what is the standard? I propose that if you are not willing to change as fast as the state of the art, you are not really willing to change in a meaningful way.

Throughout history, people have resisted change:

  • I am not willing to use a stick club
  • I am not willing to use a flint knife

Where are you on the continuum?
